The Christmas season is the happiest time of the year. What
better way to celebrate this festive event than to reach out to those who are
less privilege members of the society. The self storage industry is working
hand in hand with different organizations to help people in need and make them
happy this Christmas season.
According to scoopsandiego.com, San Diego Self Storage
(SDSS) is sponsoring its 14th annual holiday toy drive benefiting Toys for Tots.
The self storage company will be collecting toys at each of their 18 locations
throughout the greater San Diego region. In line with the toy drive, every San
Diego Self Storage facilities will also be conducting raffles for a $100 credit
toward a tenant’s storage rental. This is applicable to new and existing
tenant. To enter the raffle, interested participants should sign up when
dropping off a new and unwrapped toy. The collection will end on December 18 at
exactly 6:00 p.m. The final toy will be delivered on December 19th and the
drawings will be held at each SDSS location on December 20th.
J. Terry Aston, the SDSS
Managing Partner said in a statement, "This
year marks the 14th consecutive year that SDSS is participating in the Toys for
Tots collection drive and with 18 facilities throughout San Diego County, it’s
convenient for families to drop off toys and sign up for the raffle. We collect
a variety of toys for all ages, from babies to teenagers, and then utilize our
moving trucks to transport the toys to the Marines. Because we have locations
in the North, South, East and West regions of the county, it helps the Marines
expand their collection reach --- we’re always delighted to assist in the
effort."
During the holidays, the US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for
Tots program will deliver new toys with the purpose of sending out a message of
hope to the less fortunate members of the community especially the youngsters.
Their goal is to motivate the little ones to grow into dependable, creative,
patriotic citizens and community leaders. In 2011, there were 136,976 toys
delivered to 126,395 children in the San Diego county area. San Diego Self
Storage, based on reports, contributed 11,000 toys to that campaign.
According to scoopsandiego.com, the campaign
has been running for roughly 64 consecutive years.
Christmas is indeed a season of giving. Giving doesn’t have
to be grandiose. One can give his or her time or simple help to people who are
in need this Christmas.
